My Story
Bea’s Stews is the realization of a dream and my passion to share the taste of my homeland’s authentic stews with the rest of the world. Ghana culture is known for its hospitality and often will include a tasty home-cooked meal, as we celebrate with family and friends.
I spent several years, cooking in the kitchen alongside my grandmother and mother, learning the secrets of our home-cooked stews, the methods of preparation, sourcing the right ingredients, and then cooking in a way that would let our stews retain their authentic flavors and tastes.
With every social gathering, our stews would draw lavish compliments from our guests and it wasn’t long before I would be asked to make “take away” packs or special orders for friends to enjoy our stews on a later day.
Ghana’s culinary heritage includes a variety of stews, which form the base ingredients of its healthy meals and reflects the various regions in our country, rich in vegetables, spices, and exotic seed that make for an interesting palate experience.
Our “Adjowa “, tomato base stew is our main product and comes in two spice levels that are easily combined with any protein or carb to complete an authentic Ghanaian meal. We are looking forward to the release of the following other products in our lineup.
The “Abe Nkwan “ stew, is made from crushed (Palm kernel ) and its oils. The health benefits of palm kernel oil are attributed to its essential fatty acids and vitamins A, E, and K. which promote heart, bone, and eye health. In the western regions, Fanti people have enjoyed the benefits for years.
Our “Nketse Nkwan” stew, is my personal favorite and is legendary for its rich creamy taste. We make it entirely from peanut paste, derived from our northern region. ( Pea nuts Stew) This stew is most delicious when paired with chicken or goat meat but works with any protein.
The Eastern region and South Central parts of the country are lush with green vegetables and numerous spices. Our “Egusi“ stew, is made from ground Melon seeds and suggested to be combined with spinach or kale for a full complement of taste. Egusi seed is a good source of potassium and calcium, minerals that regulate blood pressure. It is also a rich source of magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc. And just like all plant foods, egusi is naturally cholesterol-free.
At Beas’ Stews, we prepare and package our stews fully cooked ready to be warmed, and served in a variety of sizes. This provides a nourishing ready-made stew to which you may just add your favorite supplement. We also prepare in small batches to ensure flavor and taste are never compromised, and ship in glass containers with a shelf life of up to 6 months when stored in a cool dry space in your pantries.
Bea's Stews can be paired with all your carbohydrates including rice, pasta, yams, and potatoes, as well as with all kinds of bread. Just empty a jar or two of Bea’s Stews into a pot and add your favorite cooked meats, fish, canned tuna, and vegetables.
Bon appetite!
